The Book of Mark & Our Time
This month One City is diving into the book of Mark. We have titled the series the Power of Now… and it’s all about the power of the time we are given.
In the book of Mark, Mark’s favorite word is “immediately”. You will see Jesus “immediately” heal someone, or “immediately” go preach, or “immediately” meet someone in another town.
It’s almost as if Jesus knows something we don’t - that time matters. How you use it matters, and where. It seems as though there is zero lagging in Jesus, only intentionality. Only urgency. ONLY now.
He only has now.
And frankly, so do we. We ONLY have now.
These precious moments we are given. This space we have. The people. The moments. This time. This is all we have, all we will ever have.
”Teach us to number our days,” writes Moses in the only Psalm attributed to him: “that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Only wise people understand the power of now.
This New Year, may the WEIGHT of the moment you are living in, the people you are called to serve, and the God you are called to worship be evident to you. And may you understand the power of right. Now.
